  Yes, most of our thermostats, like the ADC-T2000 can operate locally if the internet goes down. Manual temperature adjustments are still possible, but remote controls and app features will be unavailable until connectivity is restored. 

• Can you replace any thermostat with a smart home version? 

  Most traditional thermostats can be replaced with this kind of thermostat, but it’s essential to ensure your HVAC system is compatible. The need for a C-wire for power is a common consideration. 

• How do smart thermostats know the temperature? 

  Our thermostats use built-in sensors to detect the ambient temperature in your home. Additional sensors can be added for more precise readings across various rooms. 

• Is a smart thermostat worth it if you are always home?

  Even if you’re home most of the time, our thermostat can still provide energy savings through features like scheduling, remote control, and automatic adjustments based on your preferences. 

• What is the difference between Z-Wave and Wi-Fi for smart thermostats? 

  Z-Wave is designed for smart home devices, providing a stable and secure connection with low power use. It works well even in larger homes. Wi-Fi, while common, can be less reliable due to interference. For thermostats, Z-Wave often offers better performance. 

• Can I use my own smart home device?

  Yes. Since the Brinks Home system can integrate up to 120 different Z-Wave smart home devices, including thermostats from well-known brands like ecobee and Nest, you can add the device you already own.
