Troubleshooting the ADC-T2000 Smart Thermostat
Below are some common troubleshooting questions and answers for the ADC-T2000 Smart Thermostat.
Does the thermostat have power?
It is possible that an outage has caused a malfunction. Ensure you are within reach of the thermostat when attempting to troubleshoot directly or with the assistance of a Brinks Home™ representative. The thermostat will also not stay visibly active if operating on batteries only; you will need to press any button to wake up the display.
Does it show a low battery?
A low battery on the thermostat can cause it to report an error or become unresponsive. Replace all 4 of the 1.5-Volt AA Alkaline batteries in the device to ensure proper operation, even if it is hardwire powered to the 24-Volt AC from the transformer or Heating Air Conditioner C-Wire.
Are the batteries draining too fast or is the signal weaker than expected?
If the thermostat is intended to be powered by batteries alone, program the thermostat to your panel using the learn operation while the system is being powered by batteries only. This is a best practice to maximize the battery life.
If the thermostat is intended to be powered by your HVAC system, you should remove the batteries before you program the thermostat in your panel using the learn operation, then add the batteries back after you are finished. This can help optimize Z-Wave performance.
Is all information the same on multiple thermostats?
You want to make sure the info is the same to ensure proper operation.
How do you normally control your thermostat?
If you usually control it through the internet and are trying to control it directly, the thermostat may prioritize either set of directions, ignoring a conflicting input. Make sure it is set to the right setting through the Brinks Home Mobile App.
Have you had a power outage recently?
If so, your network may have been disrupted, requiring you to run “Rediscover the network.” This can be found on the Z-Wave tab (also known as the empower tab) on the Brinks Home App. If unlisted in the app, your system may not support this option. "Rediscover network" will also need to be performed if you have deleted the Thermostat from your panel or App.
Is the system communicating?
The cell unit must be communicating to control the thermostat through the Brinks Home App. If cell service is disrupted in your area, you may need to wait until it is restored to resume controlling it through the app.
Are your thermostat schedules on?
Verify if adjusting the temperature manually is interfering with the set schedules. This conflict can cause a thermostat not to respond to manual adjustments. If it does respond to manual adjustments, the set schedule could override it at a later time.
Additional Tips:
- • Distance between devices should not exceed 100' to 125' depending on building construction.
- • For signal range issues, you can install other Z-wave devices to act as repeaters.
- • Some very old Z-Wave devices cannot communicate with thermostats.
- • If you experience any trouble while programming your thermostat with your panel using the learn operation, you may need to delete the Z-Wave device and reattempt the learn operation.
- • Once learned, wait for 2 to 4 minutes for data to transfer.
