Create/Edit a Video Recording Rule

To record saved clips from video cameras, recording rules must be set up for each video camera. To create video recording rules, it requires you to log in to your Brinks Home™ App.

Recording Rule Types

The type of recording rules you can create depends on your video camera model and what other devices are associated with your system. You can create camera-triggered or system-triggered recording rules.

What's the difference?

Camera-triggered clips:

  • • Video motion detection
  • • Wired input/output

System-triggered clips:

  • • Alarm
  • • Sensor opened/closed
  • • System armed/disarmed
  • • Entry delay
  • • Lock activity
  • • Record Now button triggers
  • • Doorbell call and motion detection
  • • Garage door opened or closed

To Create a Recording Rule in the Brinks Home App:

To Create a Recording Rule on a Desktop Browser:

  1. Log in to your Brinks Home Desktop App.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Recording Rules.
  4. Click + Add New Rule.

  5. Select the type of rule to create.
  6. Enter a name for the recording rule.
  7. Configure the rule settings as desired. Rule settings depend on which rule is being created.
  8. In Video Clip Recipients, click + Add Recipient if you want to receive notifications.
  9. Click to select the entries in the address book to be notified, or click + New to add a new address book entry.
  10. Click Close.
  11. Verify the recording rule is configured with the desired settings.
  12. Click Save Rule to complete the process.

To Edit a Recording Rule:

  1. Log in to your Brinks Home App.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Recording Rules.
  4. Click Edit on the recording rule to edit.
  5. Adjust the recording rule as desired. Rule settings depend on which rule is being created.
  6. Click Save Rule.

To Delete Saved Videos:

Deleting saved videos can make room for new recordings on an SD card or SVG system; however, this action is not recommended for two reasons. Firstly, once deleted, video clips cannot be recovered. Secondly, this does not reset a monthly maximum uploads limit.

  1. Log in to the Brinks Home App.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Saved.
  4. Click to select the video clips to be deleted.
  5. Click More Options (the 3-verticle dots icon).
  6. Click Delete (the trash can icon).
